Abdullah Ali AlSaleh

Dr. Abdullah A. AlSaleh is Chairperson and Assistant Professor of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain. He holds a PhD in Molecular Medicine (Immunology) and has over 15 years of combined experience in clinical laboratory practice, occupational health, infectious diseases research, and medical education development in Kuwait and Bahrain. His research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, host–pathogen interactions, fungal infections, microbial genomics, and innovative antimicrobial strategies, with particular interest in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and synergistic antimicrobial therapies.

He has authored numerous related peer-reviewed publications and secured competitive research funding. He leads curriculum development initiatives in microbiology and immunology, chairs institutional committees, mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students, and is actively involved in advancing competency-based medical education. His educational work includes the development of innovative visual mnemonic frameworks, active-learning strategies, and antimicrobial stewardship curricula that have been presented at international scientific meetings. He also serves as the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Ambassador for the Kingdom of Bahrain, mentors early-career scientists through ASM programs while promoting research engagement and professional development among future healthcare professionals.
